3。5It read like black widow was a side character in her own novel , very reminiscent of her treatment within the marvel cinematic universe, Considering it is supposed to be her story and her name is on the cover however it was and easy basic read, that I read in one sitting。

Surprisingly enjoyable, even if the characters weren’t the black widow and other avengers, I would’ve greatly enjoyed this book。

1。 Scrittura orribile。2。 Noioso。3。 Personaggi orribili。4。 Natasha è un personaggio。 secondario nonostante il libro abbia il suo nome。 Ridicolo。

I was going to give this three stars, but decided two might be more appropriate after I read what I'd written for a review。 This explored some interesting ideas, but was overall kind of meh。 Natasha is a secondary character to two teenager's whose love-at-first-sight was both painfully cringey and far beyond my ability to suspend disbelief。 While exploring a sister dynamic with Black Widow is cool, it felt like it was trying to do too much to do that with both Ava and Alex。 And the situation was I was going to give this three stars, but decided two might be more appropriate after I read what I'd written for a review。 This explored some interesting ideas, but was overall kind of meh。 Natasha is a secondary character to two teenager's whose love-at-first-sight was both painfully cringey and far beyond my ability to suspend disbelief。 While exploring a sister dynamic with Black Widow is cool, it felt like it was trying to do too much to do that with both Ava and Alex。 And the situation wasn't helped by rough copy-editing。 。。。more

I think this is an excellent book for fans of the MCU who are looking to dip their toes into the larger Marvel canon (particularly younger fans)。 It doesn’t rely on knowledge of pre-established comic lore for the purpose of the story, thus making it approachable to fans of Marvel across any media。 However, I didn’t personally enjoy it as much as I had anticipated。 While this was a fun read, there was too much focus on the teenage characters in the story, and not enough focus on Natasha Romanoff/ I think this is an excellent book for fans of the MCU who are looking to dip their toes into the larger Marvel canon (particularly younger fans)。 It doesn’t rely on knowledge of pre-established comic lore for the purpose of the story, thus making it approachable to fans of Marvel across any media。 However, I didn’t personally enjoy it as much as I had anticipated。 While this was a fun read, there was too much focus on the teenage characters in the story, and not enough focus on Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow herself for my tastes。 Nevertheless, the ending was satisfactory and I enjoyed getting a glimpse into Nat’s internal dialogue as I read。 And although I hated the size of the role the teen romance played, I absolutely LOVED the structure of the book with the DOD interview documents placed between chapters, placing the reader in two simultaneous timeframes。 Ultimately, I think I would’ve been able to better appreciate the book when I was younger- ideally in middle school- but it still wasn’t a worthless read。 。。。more

Not terrible but kind of blah。 The author said she pictured Scarlet Johannsen's Black Widow while writing this, but nothing in the book felt very much like the character in the movies。 The story was a little weak, the bad guy wasn't fleshed out and the teen love felt pretty cliche。 I wasn't a fan of characters' internal diaogue, either, since they all kind of blurred together。 I was hoping for more with this book。 Not terrible but kind of blah。 The author said she pictured Scarlet Johannsen's Black Widow while writing this, but nothing in the book felt very much like the character in the movies。 The story was a little weak, the bad guy wasn't fleshed out and the teen love felt pretty cliche。 I wasn't a fan of characters' internal diaogue, either, since they all kind of blurred together。 I was hoping for more with this book。 。。。more

I wanted to like this book so badly。 I couldn't。 Boring, unrealistic, and Ava was very, very, very annoying。 The only reason I still own both of the books is because the covers look nice in my bookshelf。 I wanted to like this book so badly。 I couldn't。 Boring, unrealistic, and Ava was very, very, very annoying。 The only reason I still own both of the books is because the covers look nice in my bookshelf。 。。。more

This may be a bit harsh but I'm gonna be honest, I couldn't even finish it because it felt a little too convoluted and dramatic。 I spotted it at the store, decided to buy, and I read this while I was still more invested into the Marvel Cinematic Universe。 I made it maybe halfway before I gave up mainly because some things felt too out of place。Firstly I wasn't expecting this kind of story, with a bit too much focus on the blossoming romance between the teenagers rather than the titular Black Wid This may be a bit harsh but I'm gonna be honest, I couldn't even finish it because it felt a little too convoluted and dramatic。 I spotted it at the store, decided to buy, and I read this while I was still more invested into the Marvel Cinematic Universe。 I made it maybe halfway before I gave up mainly because some things felt too out of place。Firstly I wasn't expecting this kind of story, with a bit too much focus on the blossoming romance between the teenagers rather than the titular Black Widow herself。 It's not as impressive or as kickass as expected。 Doesn't feel canon to the MCU, which I assume it's trying to make itself a part of as it makes a few references IIRC but I don't consider it a part of it。Secondly, while I enjoyed Margaret Stohl's work on Beautiful Creatures (I did like that series and I was expecting the hormonal teen stuff) I feel like the sappy teen romance or drama fits awkwardly here。 If I wanted something to do with romance I'd buy a book specifically focused on that。 This feels more like a book geared toward younger teens。I kind of regretted buying it, and I'll either sell or give away because I just don't want it。 If you want to read it I'd recommend rather borrowing from a library first。 。。。more

I'm done。 I did about 25% of this and spent the entire time actively disliking everyone and everything。 I call false advertising as this is marketed as a Black Widow story yet she's barely in it。 When she is, I found her character grating。 Where Marvel is honest is labeling this a YA novel。 The real main character we follow is Ava Orlova, a homeless orphan who is into fencing。 No, not selling stolen goods, I mean the en guarde by-the-book Olympic sport。 Apparently the hard-knock life gives you e I'm done。 I did about 25% of this and spent the entire time actively disliking everyone and everything。 I call false advertising as this is marketed as a Black Widow story yet she's barely in it。 When she is, I found her character grating。 Where Marvel is honest is labeling this a YA novel。 The real main character we follow is Ava Orlova, a homeless orphan who is into fencing。 No, not selling stolen goods, I mean the en guarde by-the-book Olympic sport。 Apparently the hard-knock life gives you enough free time to pick up a hobby。 Ava is drawn to Alex Manor, the obligatory handsome teenage boy who could have any girl he wants yet is attracted to the outsider。 Everyone ends up in Philadelphia for a fencing tournament and I。 Just。 Don't。 Care。 。。。more

ok, so this was such an amazing book! i loved it so much, it never disappointed me。 i don't want to get into spoilers for people that haven't read it yet, but the only thing I disliked about it was the fact that they had to include a relationship, like the relationship makes sense in a way but still。 i would still recommend it to any other marvel fans that are impatient for the black widow film。 oh and also, ava reminds me a lot of yelena somehow。 ok, so this was such an amazing book! i loved it so much, it never disappointed me。 i don't want to get into spoilers for people that haven't read it yet, but the only thing I disliked about it was the fact that they had to include a relationship, like the relationship makes sense in a way but still。 i would still recommend it to any other marvel fans that are impatient for the black widow film。 oh and also, ava reminds me a lot of yelena somehow。 。。。more

2。5 Stars。 This book was okay。 Nothing too spectacular about it, but it wasn't a total dumpster fire。 I like the main ideas of this book except the execution isn't that great。 I have 3 main gripes about this book。 Major spoilers for point #3。1。 One of the biggest things that annoyed me (and a lot of people as it seems) is that Natasha is pretty much a side character in this story, which is kind of ironic given that this is her book。 Our main protagonist is instead Ava who is。。。 not extremely lik 2。5 Stars。 This book was okay。 Nothing too spectacular about it, but it wasn't a total dumpster fire。 I like the main ideas of this book except the execution isn't that great。 I have 3 main gripes about this book。 Major spoilers for point #3。1。 One of the biggest things that annoyed me (and a lot of people as it seems) is that Natasha is pretty much a side character in this story, which is kind of ironic given that this is her book。 Our main protagonist is instead Ava who is。。。 not extremely likeable in my opinion。 I'm indifferent to her。 2。 For more than half the book Natasha and Ava's interactions are as follows。。。Ava: You left me! I was miserable!Natasha: Better than being trained to kill。 I was making you stronger。Ava: I never wanna see you again!Natasha: Same here, kid。Which can get a bit redundant and annoying。 The amount of times this was repeated made the book feel a little slow at some times。SPOILER WARNING AGAIN。3。 So Alex/Alexi turns out to be Natahsa's brother。 I think that's a cool concept with the whole mind wipe thing。 How they chose to lose each other in order to keep each other safe and it was cute how once they knew they were siblings they would do anything fore each other。 Natasha was even willing to die for him。 The problem is, is that it barely has an impact on the story。 They just find out they're siblings and THAT'S the reason why Natasha was following him。 Other than that, there is almost no significance to this。 Especially since this book couldn't mess too much with Marvel continuity so they killed Alex off in the end。 I will have to admit that it's tragic and sad since Natasha and Alex only found each other for like。。。 a day and a half and then he died, but the fact that it has almost nothing to do with the story is what's annoying。 That's about it for my opinion。 As I said its more of a "good ideas, bad execution" book。 。。。more

Eh。 When I see MCU Natasha running around with Clint's children。。。。。。and then see this Natasha with her "I'm not a kid type of person" vibe, I'm like "who are you and what have you done with my Natasha Romanoff?!?!?"The plot was OK。。。I felt like it could have achieved great heights with better writing。 The writing was pretty bad - it would have served the story better to do first-person perspectives on the three main characters instead of awkwardly switching from different characters in a 3rd Eh。 When I see MCU Natasha running around with Clint's children。。。。。。and then see this Natasha with her "I'm not a kid type of person" vibe, I'm like "who are you and what have you done with my Natasha Romanoff?!?!?"The plot was OK。。。I felt like it could have achieved great heights with better writing。 The writing was pretty bad - it would have served the story better to do first-person perspectives on the three main characters instead of awkwardly switching from different characters in a 3rd person setting (setting? way of writing? my brain hurts)。Oh, also, that insta-love story that ended (view spoiler)[ in his death (hide spoiler)] ? Marvel’s Black Widow: Forever Red by Margaret Stohl is an Original Young Adult novel based off the Avengers superhero the Black Widow。 (Not to be confused with it’s Movie MCU Counterpart this book tells it’s own Story taking place in the Marvel comic universe。) After being saved by Black Widow as a child and surviving the wicked Villain Ivan Somodorov, Ava Orlova has spent her teenage years attempting to find normalcy。 When you’ve been living under S。H。I。E。L。D’s thumb for years of your life, and Marvel’s Black Widow: Forever Red by Margaret Stohl is an Original Young Adult novel based off the Avengers superhero the Black Widow。 (Not to be confused with it’s Movie MCU Counterpart this book tells it’s own Story taking place in the Marvel comic universe。) After being saved by Black Widow as a child and surviving the wicked Villain Ivan Somodorov, Ava Orlova has spent her teenage years attempting to find normalcy。 When you’ve been living under S。H。I。E。L。D’s thumb for years of your life, and narrowly managed to escape the Red Room, a Russian school for intelligence operatives, it can prove a little difficult。 For years, Ava has resented Black Widow for abandoning her when she needed her most, but destiny has pulled the two together once more。 They’re one and the same, and when the two learn that an enemy they once thought was long gone has practically returned from the dead (and with a vengeance), it’s finally time for Ava and Black Widow to discover a long list of secrets that have been hidden from them。 Including the mystery behind the boy who haunts Ava’s dreams, a boy she doesn’t know but knows everything about, a boy with an hourglass tattoo…If you’re interested in a Soy thriller story that will grasp your attention from start to finish, Black Widow: Forever Red is the book for you。 Right from the get-go, we’re met with action, danger, and the very real threats that agents like Natasha Romanoff face as a part of their job description。 There’s pieces of mystery woven into the plot that slowly begin to build the suspense up, until readers are on the edge of their seats。 If there’s one thing I love in a novel, it’s a good plot twist, and you’d better believe that Black Widow: Forever Red has one that will have your jaw hitting the floor。The characters in Black Widow: Forever Red are unforgettable。 If you’re only familiar with Natasha’s character through all of the Marvel movies (a la Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier), this novel presents her in a way that you’ll have never seen before。 We see more of the character’s stoic, ice-cold personality, but we also see the humanity underneath it all。 The way that Stohl writes this classic, beloved character is done masterfully。 And the way that she introduces new characters like Ava and her mystery boy will definitely leave readers eager to see them again。There is a bit of dependency on readers having some prior knowledge to the Marvel universe considering the amount of background information that is withdrawn。 If you’re somehow unfamiliar with well-known characters like Iron Man or Thor, you might be in for a little bit of trouble。 If, however, you are familiar with all of Marvel’s goodness, then you’ll be excited to know that there are cameos from renowned characters from the Marvel universe and that they are portrayed excellently。 And who doesn’t love a ‘superhero’ novel that actually features some real superheroes? Overall, I would recommend Black Widow: Forever Red to any readers looking for a novel that’s packed with action。 Any readers who are blatant fans of Marvel Comics/Movies should give it a read if they’re looking for a new take on an old character。 Any readers who are looking for a novel that has a bit of romance, a bit of drama, and a whole lot of cool fight scenes and explosions should also give it a read。 。。。more

Meh,Dnf this book at around 75 pages in。 I bought this book for Black Widow and she’s barley in itI also didn’t like the writing style I ended up flipping through/ skimming the book just to see what happens。 And I read the last few chapters and the Epilogue to see if it would make me want to read it。 (It didn’t) But now I know what happens through the book and how it ends so I’m marking it as “read”

This book was decent。I definitely overhyped it for myself, which made it a bit of a let down。 I was a bit confused about when this is supposed to take place, and whether it is meant to be based off the comics universe or the MCU, but the storyline was easy enough to follow if you know anything about Black Widow。 I feel that the two characters who weren’t Natasha (Ava and Alex) were a bit flat, and not very interesting, and I didn’t have any emotional connection to them。 And the fact that the mos This book was decent。I definitely overhyped it for myself, which made it a bit of a let down。 I was a bit confused about when this is supposed to take place, and whether it is meant to be based off the comics universe or the MCU, but the storyline was easy enough to follow if you know anything about Black Widow。 I feel that the two characters who weren’t Natasha (Ava and Alex) were a bit flat, and not very interesting, and I didn’t have any emotional connection to them。 And the fact that the most interesting character (Natasha), who is the reason why I picked up the book and is advertised as the main character, had the fewest amount of story/chapters was disappointing。 And in the chapters she did have, her storyline was focused on the other characters rather than herself。 The most compelling chapters were the (slightly off-putting) debriefing scenes between chapters。My biggest issue was that the author wrote “Natasha shrugged” so。 Many。 Times。 I listened to the audiobook, so hearing those two words over and over again for ten hours made listening a bit irritating。 Maybe I’m being nit picky but I noticed it *hundreds* of times I think。If you’re a Marvel fan, I’d recommend this。 It’s fairly entertaining, if a bit underwhelming。 。。。more

I’m a HUGE Marvel fan, so when I learned about these books, I was ecstatic。 I’ve read the IronMan one and the Spider-Man ones already, and this is probably my second favourite。 It’s a close call though, since Reynolds did such an amazing job with Morales。I was going in blind with this book, but the way Stohl mixed the canonical MCU with her own fictional universe was masterfully done。 The insight into each characters mind was heartfelt and I was left wishing for me。Fortunately, there’s Red Widow I’m a HUGE Marvel fan, so when I learned about these books, I was ecstatic。 I’ve read the IronMan one and the Spider-Man ones already, and this is probably my second favourite。 It’s a close call though, since Reynolds did such an amazing job with Morales。I was going in blind with this book, but the way Stohl mixed the canonical MCU with her own fictional universe was masterfully done。 The insight into each characters mind was heartfelt and I was left wishing for me。Fortunately, there’s Red Widow。 I’ll definitely be going into the second book when I get the chance。100% recommend to anyone who loves Marvel and YA books。 。。。more
